At Macaroni KID Fayetteville, we love celebrating the incredible moms in our community — especially those who go above and beyond every single day. Shaylin is one of those powerhouse moms who does it all, including running her own business!
Meet Shaylin Bell
Shaylin, who also goes by Shay, is a proud U.S. Army Veteran with 24 years of honorable service. Originally from Connecticut, she began her military journey in 1999 and built a career by leadership, perseverance, and a deep commitment to her country.
Beyond her military accomplishments, Shaylin is a devoted wife and loving mother of three. She has been happily married to her husband, Kirkland Bell, for nine amazing years. Together, they share a beautiful family: daughter Aaleiyah Bell (23), and two sons, Bryson Wynne (20) and Carter Bell (8). She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and has always had a passion for working with people, an interest that continues to guide her post-military endeavors.
Outside of managing her candle bar Shaylin enjoys volunteering at local elementary schools and giving back to community sports programs through donations.

How it Started
Shaylin began her candle-making journey in 2019 at the height of the pandemic. What started as a creative outlet quickly blossomed into a true passion. She began sharing her handcrafted candles at local farmers markets and vendor events, building a loyal community along the way.
After proudly serving in the U.S. Army, Shaylin retired in 2023. That same year, she and her husband, Kirkland, took the next step in their journey and opened Scented Wicks Candle Bar, a welcoming space where guests can explore, experiment, and express themselves through the art of candle making.
In the Spotlight
Scented Wicks Candle Bar proudly made the front page of the Fayetteville Observer in January 2023. Later that year, they were honored to be nominated for Business of the Month in May and for Business of the Year by the Hope Mills Chamber of Commerce.

At Scented Wicks Candle Bar, you're invited to unleash your inner artist and craft a custom candle made just for you. From blending your favorite scents to designing your candle, each session is a chance to create something truly one-of-a-kind.
Her goal is to bring the community together at a welcoming venue where everyone can come together to be creative and have fun.
At Scented Wicks Candle Bar, they don’t just invite you to create your perfect candle in their cozy brick-and-mortar studio, they bring the magic of candle making directly to the community. From hands-on workshops at Methodist College and Fayetteville Technical Community College, to special sessions with the Find A Friend nonprofit, they're passionate about sharing this creative experience with everyone, especially those who can’t make it to their shop.
