Ready to be a tourist in your own backyard? The Macaroni KID Fayetteville Staycation & Holiday Break Guide is officially here! We’re talking local hikes, hidden gems, and plenty of free community spots to keep the kids entertained and the parents sane. The Fayetteville area has so much to offer- let’s go explore it together! 

First stop by and pick up your free Cumberland County Passport from the distiNCtly Fayetteville Visitor Center. This will give your family a ton of ideas! See my reel I created about the passport here!

Camping:

Not sure if your family is ready for camping? Maybe try glamping first! Cape Fear River Adventures offers amazing accommodations and river fun. They are located in Lillington, which is full of small town charm and lovely parks. A big thank you to Cape Fear River Adventures for sponsoring this post!

Other local camping spots to explore:

-Spacious Skies Campgrounds - Sandy Run

-Raven Rock State Park offers camping and amazing hiking trails.

- Glamping opportunities can also be found at Fayetteville RV Resort and Cottages

-Clark Park offers a semi-primitive campground available for rent from March-Oct. that includes a fire-ring and outdoor restrooms with a cold shower. There is no electricity.

-Check hipcamp for other independently owned land camping spots.

-Drive a little further and check out Jones Lake State Park


Fun for thrill seekers: 

-Try your hand at skydiving with Paraclete XP Indoor Skydiving

-Go ziplining at ZipQuest

-Drive a little further and try ziplining at Go Ape


Try your hand at horse riding:

-There are many local spots that offer riding lessons that can be found through a quick google search. Try Hamilton Stables in Erwin! Hamilton Stables is one of our Summer Camp Guide sponsors this year. 


Indoor Fun:

-Laser Tag at Putt Putt and Battlehouse

-There are so many indoor trampoline parks and family fun centers to list in our area! Try skating or bowling! Do a google search and pick one to try!

-How about trying your hand at an escape room? There are several in Fayetteville that can be found through a quick google search. 

-Visit a local Museum or seek out some educational experiences

Or try staying in a local kid friendly Airbnb for the weekend! You'll be close to home- but not at your house, ha! Use the weekend trip to explore a new area of town- try new foods and new playgrounds. Don't forget to have movie and game nights!
